Located at the Arlington Street gate is the equestrian statue of George Washington, by Thomas Ball in 1869
While this photo of the colossal equestrian bronze statue of George Washington in Boston's Public Garden (at the Arlington Street entrance near Commonwealth Avenue) wasn't obviously taken today, it does serve to remind us that we only have a few more weeks of winter!
FYI: The height of the statue is 22 feet, and the granite pedestal 16 feet; so that, with its pedestal, it reaches 38 feet in all. The foundation is of solid masonry, and rests on piles 11 feet deep.
