City Happenings: March 27th & 28th

Saturday, March 27th

Make Croissants at Home

  • Make Croissants at Home – Spend your Saturday at home learning how to make an assortment of exquisite sweet and savory croissants, including almond croissants, flakey ham and swiss croissants, and decadent chocolate croissants. We’ll also talk about how to store the dough and croissant for later. During the first part of the class, Chef Evelyn will show you how to turn the dough into different shapes and flavors. In the second half of the class, you are welcome to make the yeasted dough along and laminate the dough. You’ll finish the rest of the lamination and bake the croissant after the class. You are also welcome to just watch and learn. Instructor: Evelyn Schichner

Nubian Nights

  • Nubian Nights – The Sights and Sounds of Jazz in Roxbury,” a three-week virtual multi-media experience which launches on Friday, March 26th and will run on three successive weekends through April 11th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights from 7:00 – 10:00pm. The free 1-hour installation will integrate sound and illumination at three of the district’s up-and-coming cultural anchors: Jazz Urbane Café in the Bruce Bolling Building, Black Market, and the Nubian Gallery.

The Art of Record Sleeves

  • The Art of Record Sleeves – "The Art of Record Sleeves" is a two-day exhibition curated by Rob Singh. Singh is a DJ/host; in pre-pandemic times, he was an organizer of trimonthly record shows (conventions); and he works at Cheapo Records in Central Square in Cambridge. The show features a select group of sleeves from Singh’s collection of more than two thousand records. The sleeves on view were chosen by Singh based on their compelling nature of the artwork.
