1. Dig a circular hole that is just as deep as the roots of the tree but about 4 times as wide.
2. Slide the tree out of the container making sure the soil around the roots stays in tact. Cut an x with a sharp knife at the bottom of the root ball.
3. Place the tree in the center of the hole and refill the entire hole with soil, patting it down firmly.
4. Thoroughly water the soil and then place mulch in a 3 foot diameter around the tree. Make sure to water the tree 2-3 times a week for the first 3 months after you planted it.
