How To Create A Functional Entryway

The entryway of your home is your guests first impression and the first and last place you find yourself every time you leave or enter your house. Because of this, your entryway needs to be a focal point of your home, as well as a catchall space to keep you organized when returning from a long day or going out on the town! No matter the size of your entryway, you can transform it into a functional and beautiful space that will help your daily stress melt away!

Define The Space

Whether you have a foyer, your front door opens up into your living space, you need to define your entryway. The easiest way to do this is to add wall paper or a different paint color in the area that you want to make your entry way. This visually creates a new "room" that you can dedicate to your entryway. Adding a rug and arranging your furniture will also help to create a physical space that is separate from the rest of your house.

Create Storage

The most important part of creating a functional entryway is adding furniture that doubles as storage. This could include a bench that opens or has baskets underneath for shoes, stylish hooks on the wall to hang bags and coats, and shelves to catch keys, wallets, etc. Make sure that everything has a place so your entryway isn't cluttered, and you can leave your house knowing you have everything you need.

Add Personal Decor

Design is just as important as functionality in your entryway because it is the first and last space you and your guests will see. Make your entryway flow into the rest of your home, while also making it it's own space. You can do this by adding a gallery wall with pictures of friends and family, incorporating a mirror, and adding plants or a vase of fresh flowers to make your entryway inviting and stylish! Make your entryway somewhere that you feel calm and at peace as your leaving your house or coming home after a long day.

Creating a functional and inviting entryway to your home will help with both organization and looks! Help reduce your stress when leaving and returning home by creating an organizational system, so you know where everything is! By defining a space, creating extra storage and adding your personal touch you can transform your front door into a place where stress can immediately melt off of you before and after a long day, and a place that guests will always remember!
