It has been a hot summer here in Boston and our AC unit has been pumping! Now that it's finally starting to cool off, it's a great time to clean out your vents to keep them in good shape and remove dust or mold! We have a few easy tips below to clean your vents and refresh your HVAC unit.

Before cleaning your vents, make sure to turn off the AC and cut the power source.
After the power is turned off, remove your vent covers and wipe them down to remove dust from them.
While the vents are off, vacuum out the inside of your vents to remove dust or debris that may be trapped.
Finally, change out your HVAC filter using your systems manual. You can purchase new filters from most hardware stores.
To limit the build up of dust in your vents, keep the area around the vents clean by vacuuming or sweeping often. If you suspect there may be mold in your HVAC unit or vents, we recommend contacting a professional to learn the best ways to remove the mold.
