How To Artfully Carve A Pumpkin

With Halloween just a week away, it's time to light up your front steps with jack-o-lanterns! If you want to carve the best pumpkin on your block this year, follow our carving tips below!

1. Choose Your Pumpkin

You can use any size pumpkin, but the bigger the pumpkin the easier it will be to carve!

2. Clean Your Pumpkin

Wipe down your pumpkin with water to remove any dirt. Make sure your pumpkin is dry before carving!

3. Cut Off The Bottom

Instead of cutting off the top of your pumpkin, try cutting off the bottom to make it easier to light the candle and help keep the shape of your pumpkin!

4. Gut Your Pumpkin

Using a large spoon, scrape out all the guts and seeds from the inside of the pumpkin. Separate the seeds from the guts to make roasted pumpkin seeds!

5. Draw and Carve

Draw the face or design onto your pumpkin before carving to create an outline! Using an exacto or serrated kitchen knife, carve out your pumpkins design.

6. Light It Up

Once your pumpkin is carved, place a small votive or battery operated candle on the bottom of the pumpkin and cover it with the carved top. Place your pumpkin outside or leave it in a window for a spooky look!

Happy Halloween! Send us pictures of your homes lit up with jack-o-lanterns!
