We have officially entered New England Summer but are still struggling with the endless amounts of pollen. Enjoy the weather and your outside spaces with our tips below on cleaning your furniture to create a pollen-free patio!

Starting with your outdoor umbrella, remove the umbrella fabric from the frame and lay it out on a tarp. Sweep the umbrella to remove any loose dirt and pollen. Mix together warm water, white vinegar and dish soap in a bucket then rinse the fabric with a hose. Make sure the umbrella fabric is completely wet, then use a scrub brush to scrub the mixture all over the fabric removing stains and dirt. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse the umbrella fabric with a hose to remove the soapy mixture and let the fabric fully dry.
While the umbrella is drying, take a cloth and use the same soapy mixture to wipe down the umbrella stand, tables and chairs to make sure all pollen residue has been removed.
If you have outdoor cushions on your patio, we recommend removing and deep cleaning them in your washing machine with vinegar and baking soda to make sure they are dirt and pollen free.
Finally, move all the furniture off your patio or deck and sweep any debris, dirt and pollen from the area. Pour the remaining soapy mixture on the ground, then take your garden hose and spray the patio to make sure all remaining pollen has been washed away.
Now enjoy the sun and a cocktail on your allergy free patio! We'd love to see your set up, send us pictures of your outdoor space!
